ARK Hildegard
As part of the exhibition Soil Mate, we bring the performance ARK Hildegard to the Knights’ Hall of the castle, in collaboration with Clara Spilliaert and Klankennest.
A whisper from the past
Shh… do you hear that? Those gentle sounds, like a breeze brushing past your ear… A magical musical cocoon unfolds, as four musicians – voices, cello, medieval harp, percussion and soft electronics – weave a wondrous web of sound inspired by the music of Hildegard von Bingen and her contemporaries. In this intimate sound experience, silence sways like a soft blanket, modern sounds meet centuries-old melodies, and the cello hums like the heartbeat of the earth.
ARK Hildegard and Soil Mate
ARK is a four-year co-production with music centre De Bijloke, which started in January 2024. As part of the exhibition Soil Mate, we invite Klankennest to the Knights’ Hall. Clara Spilliaert adds several sensory elements, inspired by the exhibition and the castle.

Duration 30 minutes, followed by a free play and exploration moment
Price €15 per adult/child
A ticket is required for each participant. The performance is designed for babies and toddlers, accompanied by one or (maximum) two adults.
For whom? The performance is suitable for children aged 4 to 24 months, accompanied by one or (maximum) two adults.

Practical info
» With your ticket, you can also visit the castle and the Soil Mate exhibition before or after the performance (last entry at 5 pm).
» The performance lasts 30 minutes, followed by another 30 minutes of free play and exploration.
» The performance takes place in the Knights’ Hall on the first floor of Gaasbeek Castle. The hall is accessible to wheelchair users via a lift; a staff member will assist you.
» Buggies and strollers are not allowed inside the castle and can be safely left at the reception desk.
