Heritage Day: Craftmanship
28 April 2019
Under the motto, ‘How do you make it?’, the 19th edition of Heritage Day will focus on craftsmanship.
We will use this theme to shine a spotlight on a fine example of masterful expertise: the unique sculpted stucco ceiling in the Baroque Pavilion. That ceiling is a story in itself and is richly decorated with mythological figures and flower and fruit vines. The Baroque Pavilion, built around 1620/1625 by the then lord of the manor, René de Renesse de Warfusé, and the ceiling are currently being thoroughly restored as part of the master plan of the castle.
On Heritage Day we will open the pavilion exclusively for the occasion and restorer Freya Joukes will provide information
about the work. These mini talks, in Dutch, will take place at 2 pm and 3 pm in the Baroque Pavilion.
More information will follow.
