Exquisite Corpses / Homage to Egmond (1522-1568)

01 July 2018 - 31 August 2018

The Count of Egmond, one of the most striking former castle residents, will be commemorated in 2018 with various initiatives in Flanders and The Netherlands. For that occasion, we will be showing the special series of photos that the Dutch master photographer Erwin Olaf produced for the castle in 2012 (which were also exhibited last year in Moscow’s Pushkin Museum).

The monumental photos evoke the entourage of Egmond and the Brabant nobility who are paying him their last respects. Olaf has added some striking female figures, with a nod to Marchioness Arconati Visconti, the last owner of the castle. In addition, he has integrated Belgian fashion into the main tableau and the derived portraits (with items from among others Delvaux, Ann Demeulemeester, Jean-Paul Knott, Jean-Paul Lespagnard, Elvis Pompilio, Kaat Tilley, Dries Van Noten, Wouters & Hendrix,...).
