Gaasbeek Castle is looking for pianists
04 July 2016 - 06 November 2016
For the new exhibition MEAULNES / Gerolf Van de Perre, Gaasbeek Castle is looking for pianists who wish to play music live in the
romantic castle rooms.
MEAULNES is about text, image and sound and how these can blend together. The central scene of the book takes place in a mysterious castle, where a young woman plays the piano during a party. In collaboration with Pianos Maene, a number of
historic and recent pianos have been placed here and there in the exhibition. These are played regularly, for example by piano teachers and pupils of the Academie Peter Benoit Lennik.
The castle invites all interested pianists (budding ones too) to come and play these instruments. Anyone who enjoys playing the piano, and would like to do so in a unique setting, is very welcome and may visit the exhibition free of charge. You do not need to have won a first prize at the conservatory (although if you have you’re still welcome), but you should have followed an intermediate course at an academy. For repertoire we are thinking of music written between the start of the 19th century and the First World War, but also Mozart, Haydn or more recent music that exudes a romantic mood.
